Mermaid Beaded Necklace – Ceramic seashell #04

I designed these child-like necklaces for fun-loving mermaids who wish wearing something whimsical and girly. Something girly and naive that brights a summer day.

♥ Looking for a kitschy look, I combined the cute one-of a kind ceramic seashell with vintage plastic and colourful glass beads to catch the sunlight.
This double necklace has a shorter beaded collar attached to another long golden beaded chain that holds the seashell pendant.

Dimensions:
Seashell: approx 2,8 cm long x 2,5 cm high (1.10′ long x 0.98′ width)
Short beaded necklace: 33cm long (13′ long)
Chain: 44 cm (17.3′ long)
I added a short tail chain of 4,5cm (1.77′) so you can easily adjust the necklace length.

♥ Packaging
This necklace comes onto an ilustrated card and a short introduction. Designed and illustrated by me, packaged in a sealed plastic sleeve and shipped with great care. Ready to give away as a gift or keep for yourself.
Wishing it makes you feel closer to summer happiness.

♥ Process
I hand molded and sanded little pieces of clay to its seashell shape one by one.
Painted eyes and noses when dry. Then they were fired.
I covered them with a layer of crackled glossy and transparent glaze that was fixed with a second fire.
The last step of the process was mounting the ceramic pendant to a shiny golden beaded chain, thread colourful tiny beads for making a second collar, attached the two chains together and stitched a heart bead at the end of the chain… Voilà!
It was carefully dreamed, designed, assembled, packaged… And I hopefully well-loved.
Each seashell is different and unique in a very delicate naïve and primitive style. Full of irregularities.
A naïve jewel in shape, and in concept too.
